The framework can help identify and successfully manage social distance. The name reflects its five components: structure, process, language, identity, and technology.
Structural factors refer to the location and number of sites where team members are based and the number of employees working at each site. The problem that can arise from them is a wrong perception of power of team members. To make sure they don’t have a feeling of a power-imbalance between themselves and their colleagues based in different locations, a team leader has to constantly remind team members that they are a single entity and share a common purpose.
